Carrot Wood

I recently came into a fair amount of carrot wood brought to me by friends from Florida. They cut down one of their carrot wood trees and I asked them to bring me some on a recent visit. It is only about 5 weeks from cutting.

Can anyone give me some ideas regarding turning this species? What about toxicity? What characteristics can I expect with it regarding warping and such?

I took some to our club meeting for the wood raffle and it got scooped up ASAP with requests for more. Naturally, my friends who gave it to me are expecting some products as well.

Cyril, I would like to see a photo of carrot wood. Is it orange as the name implies?

Yes it sure is. Just as orange as a fresh carrot. But right now I can't provide a photo till I dig it out of the snow. 🙂

Shows a small tree. This tree is considered and invasive species in FL and I am lead to believe it is native to Australia.

Thanks for the link, George. Some nice work. Don't know how long you've been away from OSH but it's loaded with small thinking, self serving politicos who only live to serve the EAA 🙁 . They even chased a new Lowes store out of town. Oh well...enough of that. Thankfully I live south of Oshkosh 🙂 .
