Is there such a factor? Who knows what for real? I seem to be having a glue letdown as the practice of keeping it in the freezer nearby had worked real well until recently. Now the glue seems to take forever to solidify in application. Would be interested to know what your experiences have been. Thanks, Philip

Ca Shelf life

I keep mine in the freezer. However the thin stuff is the odorless kind (allergic to other)and just ordered 2 qts from Starbond, It is 2-3x more expensive than regular. (It takes 30-60 sec to "set" anyway.) Spent $158. Asked person answering the order phone if can stay in the freezer for a few years and she said yes-(if you can believe she really knew!!!)I pour some in small bottles which stay out. MY thick stuff (they don't make odorless) is in the freezer til ready to start a new 2 oz bottle. .Once on the shelf it gets quite sludgy after ?? 6-9 months. I guess I could pour some in a smaller bottle for the shelf if I were that concerned and put original right back in the freezer (ie doesn't freeze solid for those who wonder). Gretch

CA does have a shelf life. I was teaching a class one weekend and pieces were flying off left and right. I opened up a fresh bottle of CA and all the problems went away. I don't know how to extend the life. I've tried refrigerating. I don't know if it actually worked any better than just not opening the stuff. I use the open bottles fast enough that it's usually not a problem.

'Bout every other year or so I make a big order of thin and medium from Starbond in 16 oz bottles, then put them on the door of our downstairs refer that we use for overflow (and my beer stash!). I fill the small bottles they send with the 16 oz ones and use them in my two shop areas without tops. The refrigerator gets opened at least once a day, but I've never had any issues with aging in over seven years of using this companies products. I'll have to make another order soon as I just ran out of medium, although I've one full thin 16 oz left and a half full one in my garage. Never had any problems with function or hardening (save in the small ones if their left where it's hot).

As a dealer, I can tell you that it is about 1 year from manufacture date (officially). Humidity is the killer for CA glue, so if the fridge (or the shop) has a high humidity level, it could even be less than a year.
And it really does not even need to be opened to go bad.

I keep mine in a fridge and sealed in a glass jar - take it out use it and put it back

Seems to have helped alot here in my humid world

If your fridge is frost free all the better. But by far is to seal it in a plastic container with silicajel and you will get your 12months and maybe a bit more. This is a fairly common practice down under.
