Bylaw Votes

The e-voting link is live in the Members Only area on the AAW website. You'll find it in the box of links on the left side of your screen after you log in.

Whether you choose "yea" or "nay" on approval of the new AAW Bylaws, here's hoping that as many members as possible vote. It may be the single most effective way you can make your voice count on how the AAW should be run.

Information on the Bylaws is in the February AAW Journal, and on the sub-forum of the AAW Information Forum.

Naturally an informed vote will take a bit longer than a minute. You should examine both sides of this issue before you vote.

Betty was/is, without doubt, well informed prior to voting. Your post is just right. This vote needs to be cast on the perceived merits of what is proposed. To do that, a bit of reading is involved.

I went to one of my meetings last night and handed out a copy of following to all of the members and plan on doing it at my other clubs also in the next few weeks for about a total of 250+ members. Also had each of the clubs email it out too. Let all do this and get more people involved and informed.

AAW Bylaws - Proposed Changes
The membership will be given an opportunity to vote on adoption of revised Bylaws, as described through this webpage - see below for links.

Each member may electronically vote in favor of, or against the proposed Bylaws changes using the online voting facility that will be found in the members area, commencing 1 February. Voting will be available to members from 1 February through March 31, 2011.

If you wish to discuss the Bylaws with other AAW members, please visit our special sub-forum that will be active for the next three months (link below).

Online membership voting is now open - login required
 Click on this link to read a "Report to the Membership" from the Board and Bylaws Subcommittee (pdf) that explains the reasoning behind all significant proposed Bylaws changes. Note that this same Report to the Membership message will be published in the February 2011 (Vol. 26 - No. 1) American Woodturner.
 Follow this link to read the proposed Bylaws (pdf), that will be voted on by the membership beginning 1 February, 2011.
 For comparison purposes, here is a link to our current Bylaws, last updated on July 22, 2010.
 If you would like to discuss the proposed Bylaws changes, including changes you would like to see considered for a later Bylaws revision, thank the committee for their hard work, etc... go to this link to participate in a special sub-forum that will be active through the end of the voting period - 31 March, 2011.
Note that this sub-forum link will only work if you are a current forum member who is also an AAW member. If you are not a forum member, click on this link to join. If you are a forum member, but your membership does not designate you as a current AAW member, send an email to John Van D so he can update your records.

Thanks Jeff!

The more people get involved and vote the better and stronger the AAW will be.

If the folks you speak to have questions, chances are others are wondering about the same thing so ask them to join and post on the sub-forum so the re-write committee can respond.

took me longer to find the card I have that has my member number than it did to vote. I've been keeping up with the by law changes but if you haven't they are in the latest Journal.

You go to log in from the same computer, John, put your cursor on the top box and double click. Your member number may pop up in a box, just click it. Do the same in the password box, and the string of dots should show up.

Saves looking for the card and retyping. 🙂
