At the AAW Louisville, I purchased some velcro basked discs for my pad sander. They were blue and were very non-loading. I've lost the contact name for this small vendor. A little help please.

This is probably it:

Description: Sanding Tools, Extend-a-Sand, Disc Holders, Interface Pads, 3M Abrasives and Velcro

Edit: I am mistaken, the discs Bruce sells are actually purple 3M discs. They work well, but I cannot compare them to Vince's product.

I think you are talking about Vince from VincesWoodNWonders, a pretty regular contributor on here. Vince was set up in righthand front corner when you walked in the vendor area as I remember. He was selling his sample sets faster than he could put them out, and for good reason- it was a good deal on good stuff. I have starting using his blue disks after suffering with some cheap ones from another company that were junk. Vince's stuff is worth every nickel. Search the member list for VincesWoodNWonders and contact him, you won't be sorry.

(No I don't work for Vince or even get a discount for recommending his stuff, I just believe in it 🙂 )

I got mine from Vince. I'm not sure I like the size. They are 1/2" larger than my sanding mandrels. I Love the paper it cuts clean and lasts a long time. I've had trouble sanding up to edges with larger sheets. I'm going to check with him and see if he can get them 2" rather than the 2 1/2. He's a mighty fine guy to deal with.

Sanding Discs and Arbors

I placed an order from Vince last November, for his sanding arbors. He threw in some of his sanding discs, complimentary.

I've used the arbors now for several months, and can say that they are far superior to the arbors available from the local catalogs we all shop from. The disc materials are a firm foam, that compresses, but is dense so that it doesn't break down with continuous use. The hook and loop material he uses is also much better, as well. They are very similar to the sanding arbors that I use with my Grex ROS. Bright yellow in color, they're made by 3M, and I purchased them through an auto parts supplier in Georgia. If I recall, the price comparison is competitive, as well.

I haven't used the sanding discs yet, so can't offer an opinion on them - I'm still using up the 2+ year supply of 1 yd by 1 meter sheets I acquired through Industrial Abrasives. However, if the discs are anything like the sanding arbors, I'll be satisfied.

I am not connected with Vince or his company, nor am I receiving anything for this endorsement. I just believe in sharing information on a good product for woodturners.

Vince has some new interface pads that solve the size problem you are talking about.

I bought the sample set-up in 3" in Louisville and finally changed over everything about the first of the year with a bigger order from Vince. Good stuff.

Thanks Woodturners, It was Vince who I was looking for. Thanks for clearing out some cobwebs and providing me a source.
