My first real bowl turning....A friend gave me a birdseye maple bowl blank that powder post beetles took up residence in. It was to be a gunstock but after the beetles claimed the wood he cut it up for bowl blanks and gave me one since I am just getting started in the world of turning.

I made this for my wife and as I was about to part the bowl from the blank she thought it might be nice to have a saucer under it...so I did as she requested. I sanded ( that stuff is hard) and finished with Watco natural oil.

Very nicely done, Steve. Be sure to keep this one so that as your skills improve, you'll have it to compare to. Wish my first one was that nice  .
