I bought a Rockwell/Delta 46-111 a few day ago that looked like it had about 30 minutes use. On the way home the tie down straps broke and lathe fliped out of the truck resulting in a bent spindel shaft. Is there anyway to repair this? It has a Rockwell motor that looks and runs ok. I may have a going out of business (lathe) sale. I have a Walker/Turner L540 that works fine but it may be for sale also. Charles

I am sorry to be a bearer of bad news.
Unfortunately, the spindle will have to be replaced. It will be hard to find one and having a custom spindle made would probably cost more than the lathe is worth (unless you have a machinist friend). The bearings are likely damaged also.

You may be able to find either a spindle or a complete headstock for the 46-111 on eBay. There have been a number of them for sale recently. The bearings won't be a problem, they're a standard size. I just replaced a set of them in my son's lathe. There are a couple of other places you can check as well. They are: Ace Tool Repair, Old Wood Working Machines (owwm.org) and Delta may still carry the part. Hope this helps.
