Is there an over the counter belt that will fit the Jet mini? If I order shipping will cost as much as the belt plus the down time.

It is a standard size belt, but you will still have to pay shipping regardless of where you buy it because it is very unlikely that a local dealer will stock it. Unless it is a belt for an automobile or a piece of lawn equipment, the chances of finding it in stock anywhere are very slim. Most likely, you would only find it at a repair center for equipment that uses that particular belt. If you contact a Gates distributor, you could find their cross reference and then get it from some place like McMaster-Carr.

What is the price of the belt? Shipping?

I was going to order a capacitor for a Jet mini, but the shipping for an online order was a bit extravagant. $20.00. The capacitor was only $11.45 or so...

Then I found out that if you call them with the part number they'll give you a better rate on shipping.

Thanks; I called as you suggested, $24.01 with ground shipping. Thanks for the tip.

Don't know precisely what type is used by the mini, but for my 3000 I counted the number of ribs and measured the length and width. Then I called Motion Industries down south of me and they gave me three choices of manufacturer.

It's highly unlikely that they chose anything but a stock belt for their machine.

When you get your new one, before you put it on, take it to your local Graingers or whoever you have locally and see if they carry onything compatible. Probably cost a lot less.

Jet Mini Lathe Belt

I have the General Maxi-Lathe, which uses the same drive belt as the Jet Mini Lathe. Any auto parts or industrial equipment dealer that is able to order from Good Year can order your belt. It is a Good Year 240J Poly V belt, Made in the USA. $6 and change. The dealer asked me how many V’s were in the belt: THREE.

Ribbed belts

I bought the belts for my Jet Mini from Aarubco Rubber Co. Their prices are lowest, and they don't gouge you with the shipping. However, you need to call them on the phone with the specs and a credit card. No affiliation, but I will buy from them again.

The belts are know as Poly-V which is the same as serpentine belts.

The belt for the Mini is a J-section (size of the ribs), 3 rib, and if I remember correctly, 24" circumference (total length of the belt).
