Folks---

I was wondering---does anyone know of a good woodturning/woodworking class and/or class sequence available in the Lexington, KY area? I'd love to get started in the hobby, however I believe the safest and most expedient route is to get training from a competent instructor rather than through trial and error.

Thanks,

Henry,
I'm going to suggest contacting the Louisville AAW chapter. You can find out their contact information on the AAW homepage.

Good thought!!

Check out the list of turning clubs in the area and join. I'm sure you can find a link directly from this forum. Most clubs offer mentoring help to get beginners going with the hobby. I think Keith Bundy lives in your area--you might want to check with him as well to determine where the clubs are. I believe he also teaches at some of the woodworking stores int he area.

Also, many, if not all, of the Woodcraft stores offer classes that can be quite helpful.

Good luck with the hobby!!

Joe

If you are interested PM me.

Thanks!

Thanks, folks, for all the help that's come down so far. I really appreciate it. AFAIK, the Louisville AAW chapter _IS_ the only one in KY. I also appreciate those who have offered contacts, and I will be getting in touch soon.

Thanks, and I hope this thread can help other Lexingtonians as well!

Even though the Louisville area turning group is the only one in KY. I think it would still be worth joining and the drive for a once a month meeting. We have people drive over two hours to attend the Az. Woodturners meetings and there are three turning cubs in Arizona.
