BEER Connoisseurs at the Symposium

Fellow Beer Geeks and Woodturners!

For those attending the Symposium in Louisville, who are also connoisseurs of better quality beers, I proposed earlier in this forum that we try to meet to talk turning AND beer, while downing a few in the process (beer, not turnings, that is...). Mark Mandell and Steve Worcester previously expressed interest in getting together at a "better quality" drinkery, and perhaps a few others as well. I think we are in luck....

I propose for those AAW Symposium attendees who want to get together for some good local beer, that we meet at Browning's Brewery about 8:00 pm on THURSDAY evening. (I'm planning on having dinner there after the rotations are over on thursday, so I'll be ready to meet other turners for more beers whenever they arrive - anyone want to get together for dinner?)

Browning's Brewery is located at Louisville Slugger Stadium, 401 East Main Street, a few blocks east of the Galt House Hotel along Main Street (i.e. within walking/crawling distance from "home", just six blocks away)

See the following map to get an idea of where to go:

Here is a set of published reviews of the beers brewed on site at Browining's:

We may be in for a treat!!

I will let the wait staff know that there may be (many?) others arriving for the "AAW Group" to try to get seated (if necessary) in the same general area. Those arriving with Symposium name badges, or those that are covered with wood shavings, will be easy to identify as part of our group...

While there are other breweries in the Louisville area, it seems like Browning's will be the most convenient for us at the Symposium. I also want to relate some other information about the Louisville beer scene....

For an idea of the "local brew review" for the Louisville area, take this link:

Be aware that Browning's Brewery is located inside the Stadium, but can be accessed from the outside without the need for tickets, etc.

I hope to see some of you at the symposium and further hope that we can get together for a few quality local beers on thursday evening. (Recall that on wednesday evening, ca. 8 pm, people are meeting at the "Bridge" bar in the Galt House, and that the banquet is on friday evening.)

I'm looking forward to meeting many of you whose names I read weekly (sometimes daily) on Internet turning forums - it will be great to put a face with the name!

See you in Louisville!

Count me in! Would probably like to do dinner also.

You can get in touch with me after wednesday afternoon to arrange heading over to dinner on thursday evening. I'm staying in the Galt House, and you can leave a phone message or post one to a message center board if they have one at the Symposium. I'm looking forward to dinner & good brews at Browning's Brewery on thrusday....

Now just 610 miles between me and Louisville to be covered tomorrow morning & early afternoon....

See y'all there!

Woodwish, I'll catch up with you at the Bridge Bar tomorrow. I believe I could drink a beer. See you folks then.

I plan on it. Will have the mrs., sister and BIL there with any luck (they are coming down from Pitt.

If they have pitchers (not baseball) I (or at least turningwood.com) can pick up a few.
