Be a better turner by learning photography

By taking the time to learn how to stage, light and photograph your work, you will gain a better understanding of form, detail and the overall presence of your work. Photography forces you to see your work in a different way. It forces you to systematically look at it from all angles, and to see it in way others will view it.

It is no accident that some of the best work on this site is also the best photographed.
 
Jim One thing photography does whether it's good or bad is to reduce the piece to a 2 dimensional object. This way the form becomes more important. I think John Jordan played with this in 3d years ago by painting his pieces black. This forced you to look at the shape rather than the texture, grain, color etc.
