Need help!!!!! 2 or so years ago at a woodworker expo in Portland Or. I saw a guy demo a bandsaw blade that was made up of carbide inserts (brazed in)...and appeared to be about 1" or so wide, about 2 or so tpi..kerf looked to be about normal for a standard blade. Watched him for a while....VERY impressed!!! He was ripping cedar about 6"x6"x24"..and smooth as planed!!!But, duh...I had no use (or a bandsaw) at that time. Have not seen this since. Can anybody tell me manufacturer and maybe an e-mail contact?????

It may have been the Laguna Resaw King. They offer them in 3/4, 1 and 1-1/4 widths. I believe mine is 3 tpi. I use it on a movable carraige sawmill.

It doesn't cut any smoother and may not even be as "sharp" as a NEW carbon/silicon steel blade, but where those blades dull pretty fast (as in one cut), the Laguna retains its original sharpness longer. That's the real benefit in my view.

Worth noting: the braze-on teeth are slightly wider and require power to attain the same feed rate.

It was probably a Lenox blade. I own a 1" wide Lennox carbide tipped blade that I use on my MiniMax bandsaw. By the way, before you get too enamored with a carbide blade, they can't (or, more correctly, shouldn't) be used to cut green wood. They are intended for resawing KD lumber only.

Enamored! Good word 🙂

From Suffolk Machinery's (Timberwolf blades) website:

Carbide tipped blades

Have you check the usual industrial supply houses? For example McMaster-Carr carries carbide tipped bandsaw blades in a variety of widths and lengths.
