John C. Campbell Folk School Launches Online Auctions Featuring Woodturned Items

URL for auction site: http://shop.ebay.com/johncampbellfolkschool/m.html

BRASSTOWN, NC —John C. Campbell Folk School will be holding several online auctions of fine craft items through eBay, from June 8 through June 17, 2010. The auctions will feature several woodturned pieces that have been donated to the school in support of the Doug Barnes Memorial Fund. The fund was created to ensure the continued success of the Folk School’s woodturning program and honors the late Doug Barnes, former Resident Artist in Woodturning at the school.

Bidders will have the rare opportunity to bid on a fine selection of woodturned items created by regional artisans, many of whom are Folk School instructors. An elegant maple spiral sculpture by Dave Barriger, an impressive ambrosia maple cowboy hat by Chris Ramsay, and a lovely zebra wood platter by Nick Cook are just few of the highly crafted pieces for sale. To find out more about the auction and to view photos of the items visit https://www.folkschool.org/auction/doug-barnes-memorial-fund/

The online auctions coincide with the Folk School’s biggest fundraiser of the year, its annual Gala and Benefit Auction on June 12, 2010 at 5 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for this year's event held in the Keith House on the Folk School’s campus. Proceeds raised will go towards the improvement of the school’s sixteen on-campus studios as well as equipment. </p>
