Assistant needed

I thought I would see if anyone here is interested in these opportunities. The schools can and will provide these, but I like people that are interested and compatible.

I need a teaching assistant for two classes. Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, ME June 20-24, and Arrowmont in Gatlinburg, TN August 8-13. Arrowmont gives room and board, CFC a stipend that will cover room and board. That's about it for the financial part.

I would like someone that is interested in the type of work that I do, and can be part of the class as much as possible. Main duties are chainsaw/bandsaw stuff, and helping strugglers with their turning/sharpening. This is an intermediate to advanced class. The class will be on turning bowls and hollow vessels from green wood, and a lot of carving, texturing and surface treatments.

If you are competent with chainsaw, bandsaw and sharpening, and are interested, you qualify. No delicate flowers-it will be a fair amount of work, but good fun.

Wish it fell closer to times I've already scheduled at Arrowmont. Hope you're back there next year 'cause I'd like to be first in line :cool2: for the opportunity, especially if there's an adjoining week I'm interested in. Pretty nice offer IMO--whoever takes you up on it.

OK, Dave, thanks. Anyone that is interested in such things can put their name in. Get in touch with Dave Hankey at Arrowmont. Many people need assistants and Dave keeps a list of willing folks. I just prefer having someone that is particularly interested in what I do-I tend to use the same folks over and over until they can't take any more. 🙂

Come visit the week Clay and Jennifer are teaching at the Craft Center. I'm going to be taking a metal vessel class from David Huang. CLay will cook one night, I'll bet.

Talk up my Arrowmont class in August, too. They're running low, too. I remember when they used to have to have a lottery for my classes. 😀
