Asheville Galleries

Do you mean to visit? Or to place work? Blue Spiral is the top gallery IMO-it's a high end gallery, and the Grovewood Inn has the most work, a lot of furniture and turning, and is a fabulous place. The Folk Art Center of the Southern Highland Craft Guild is worth a visit as well.

Visit Asheville

John Jordan pretty much hit it on the head as far as the high end well known gallerys. He left out The New Morning Gallery in Biltmore Village. I think that John has displayed his art in most of these.
Asheville has a lot of smaller gallerys also. If you are in Biltmore Village area there are dozens of smaller gallerys that are within a few block walk.If you are next Saturday, or the third Sat. of the month you are welcome to visit our local woodturning club at the Folk Art Center. It is the largest club in the country.
Feel free to contact me, I'll be happy to give you directions, maps etc. to make your visit more pleasurable.

Good Luck,

Dave

Biltmore Village does indeed have lots of galleries...downtown, too. Easy to spend an entire day and still not see everything.

Not to hijack the thread, but does Asheville have a good supply house (tools, gouges, wood, etc.)?

Asheville Harware

Asheville Hardware is a mixed woodworking store. They stock lathes, wood, tools, finishes, and have turning classes. Their inventory is not huge, but pretty comprehensive. Of course Packard's is just 35 miles down I-26 at Tryon. They have everything but are open only on week days.

Bill: Thanks for the info. I have visited Asheville Hardware previously, and am scared to go to Packard ("You spent HOW much?!?").

rmuniak: Forgot to mention that Grovewood Gallery is one of my favorite places - definitely worth a visit!

Asheville Hardware

The Asheville Hardware is moving about two (2) blocks away, North West of the current location on, or about March 15th.
