The article written by Mr Wirsing on gallery finishes was quite informative. I am needing some clarification about sanding radially. Is he say that his sanding is done across the last sanding marks? Is he applying his finish with the grain or what. My lack of education has once again hindered me from understanding.

Yes that is what he is referring to . We have discussed this and neither of us know what radial refers to . The definition of radial is "diverging lines from a common center. "

Initially it seems clear to me where he mentions the tool marks which would be circumferential and then radial is perpendicular to that which is from the center out. However, I agree that some of his later use of the term isn't exactly clear.
