Hi all,

I ran into a beginning turner on facebook who could use a mentor if anyone here is near Tupelo. Looks like there is no AAW chapter there, so maybe there should be! Maybe if a few folks got together to have a turning picnic or share some shop time, you could start a new chapter...? Just an idea.

I'd help the guy, but I live over 1000 miles away. If you are in his area, and interested in helping a beginner learn the fundamentals, please let me know -- greenworksvt - at - gmail dot com -- and I'll make an effort to connect you.

Safe spinning,

You could recommend the Mid South Woodturners in Bartlett, TN, a suburb of Memphis. It seems to be the closest club. The distance is approximately 100 miles. In Texas that's like going to the grocery store.

Like Bill said Memphis may be the closest. There is also a Delta club in Cleveland. Magnolia meets in Mendenhall, but with members all the way from Hattiesburg to Cleveland. Magnolia meets 3rd Saturday every month at 9:30 AM if interested directions can be found at the link behind each city http://www.magnoliawoodturners.org/wood/HowToGetThere.aspx .
Let me know If I can help. I am the Treasurer and Webmaster for Magnolia.
