Hey guys.

I just moved up to Hammond, IN area and was wondering if anyone lives up here. I hope to up and turning again soon, once I get the shop together. Just a quick brag, I do have a Walnut, Mulberry, and mystery tree setting near the drive way, all cut up and ready to turn. I hope to get my new Jet 1642 later in the year, now that my wife got her new Mastiff puppy. I am jealous of all you guys that jumped on the Amazon offer. Maybe it will still be there later in the year. I think it would be cool if we coould start a club up here. The chicago area club is still to far away for me, because of the job thing. Any way look forward to hearing from you all.

Vince,

I would love to be able to travel south, but because I work on call, and never know when they will call, I have to stay within an hour from home for 9 mos. of the year. It is one of the reasons we moved farther north. I might be able to come down in the winter when I get laid-off. I am still trying to get the wife to let me retire, and turn all day. So far I have had no luck. I can't wait until I can get my new lathe. As of now all I have is an old shop smith. It does ok for the smaller stuff, not much run-out. The biggest problem is the height. It is way to short for me. I will have to learn all over again. They just opened a Woodcraft about 20 minutes from me. I was in there the other day, drueling. I really enjoy turning, and am sure it will only get more fun on a real lathe. I have not been this excited since I was a kid, waiting for X-mas.
