Any known brand jaws work with Vicmarc VM100 chuck?

My first chucks have been Axminister SK100 then SK114. and then an O'Donnell set for the SK100. Several months ago I got a Vicmarc VM100 with the 55mm shark jaws and have never looked back. I cannot imagine a more comfortable chuck to use on a 14" lathe mostly turning bowls and smallish objects. I am going to sell both Axminsters and pick up another VM100 on sale but I cannot find the long nose jaws (to replace the O'Donnell Jaws) in stock. Are there any compatible jaws for the vicmarc chucks as there are several companies that make the long nose jaws? I found myself turning tenons and recesses even on larger items to allow me to use the shark jaws but when an object is small there is no work around. I would get the Long nose jaw - V00647 as my preference with specs showing Compression range: 7/8" - 1-3/8" and Expansion range: 1-1/4" - 3"
thanks for the help!

I have been buying mine direct from Vicmarc. Even with shipping the price is right.
I think i'll try that. I have been using the color coded sandpaper that Raffan uses and the Aussie manufacturer does not sell to US customers so Craft Supplies USA sells reliably has it in stock. I assumed Vicmarc does not ship but yay for your suggestion.

I can assure you that they have a shipping department, they are in Australia and ship all over the world. I have purchased direct countless times.

I use that particular set of jaws a lot on my VM100 chuck, I often use it for very small bowls using a 35mm Forstner bit, there are two in the pictures, the deep one is for a batch of sock darning heads, while the other 3mm shallow one is for a tiny bowl.

These jaws also have a long inner piece of metal down each inside edge which allows perfect holding of dowel like stuff. I recently did another tool handle and as you can see it grips it perfectly on the ferrule.

I would also suggest for you to purchase some of the small screws that hold these chucks in place, over time the 3mm Allan key hole starts to round off. I would suggest you get these from a specialist bolt place as through wood turning dealers they are not cheap.

I would suggest you keep the SK100 and dedicate the O’Donnell jaws you have to that chuck. You could still sell the SK114 and other Axminster jaws and likely have enough to buy another V100 chuck. I just don’t think there are any comparable jaws to the O’Donnell. I can clamp a 1/2” square or a 2” square firmly with the O’Donnell jaws. I have Axminster chucks and have never used a Vicmarc chuck, but have no intention of changing brands and going back to removing screws to change jaws.

Very helpful and certainly appreciate the photographs.. I ordered my long nose Chuck from timber bits also in Australia just a little bit more money than getting it at craft supply when they get their VM 100 sized Jaws. I will try to order other things directly from Vicmarc.
