I ve been using some alcohol artist pens to stain some ash turnings.
I was wondering is there someway to make my own alcohol stain with the same product that they use to color expoxy pours?
Basically look to duplicate a color that I use which poppy red .
I have some red power that someone gave me.
Anyone make there own?IMG_0292.jpeg

TransTint dyes are awfully good, I haven't had reason to try anything else for a long time now. They can be made up in either water or alcohol, I prefer alcohol for most uses.

If your dye powder dissolves in alcohol you can certainly use it. Most powders are so-called aniline dyes (they haven't actually been aniline derivatives for decades now) and are not as light fast as the metal complex dyes like TransTint, if that is a concern for you.
