Hello, I have an opportunity to get some Ailanthus tree of heaven Burl.
I have never heard of it and my Google searches don't give me much.
Any one have experience with this stuff. I have plenty of wood so I don't
want to get wood just to get wood. But I would hate to miss out on some.
spectacular material. Any info would be appreciated. Kevin

This is a common invasive and a street tree in many cities wether they pant it or not it sprouts in any urban crack.
I had some a long time ago. Turned a couple natural edge bowls. I remember it is a fairly soft light colored uninteresting wood.

A burl could be nice!

Have fun

The Chinese name for the tree "chouchun" means foul smelling tree. Apparently because of its noxious odor, the Chinese believed it to have medicinal properties and it was said to cure both mental illness and baldness. Send me some shavings and I'll try them on my chrome dome if I can tolerate the smell.

Would that be a 2'fer then?
