Just curious about how many are using this service, if you are happy with it and how much money it saved you, if any? What happens if the AAW should, for any reason, cease to exist and one is insured under their group plan? My individual health insurance with Anthem is getting ridiculous.

about to find out

i am under WARN notification and our sixty days are at the end, and i have a quote from Anthem, and with a $5000 deductable it is still unbelievable 😱. i asked for a quote with AAW insurance today, i knew that there was insurance for shops but did not realize there was health insurance avaliable. anybody else have a company to check with?????

What is a WARN notification?

Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act

the company has to pay you for 60 days after the notification date of plant closing, so to get value for those pay days you work, it has been an experience in qc but disruption has been more subtle towards the end of the 60 days

example: at first of 60 days oil leak all over product, at end of 60 days machine overhauled, wore out in a week due to oil lines rerouted

I would be interested how this goes for folks. Mine is currently extremely high, also with 5k deductible 50% payment for a big part etc.

The AAW program gets quotes from all the companies, but I haven't tried it. I'll bet it's just like getting quotes anywhere-good rates for the young healthy, not so great when you reach our age even if you're pretty healthy. I don't know many people over 50 that don't have some sort of issue.

Keep us posted if anyone tries it.

John

I made a post over where this subject came up in the AAW Information Forum. I was told we would be better off keeping what we had. Our health insurance is unbelievably expensive too. I basically work two part time jobs to pay for it.

I think for young people it will be fine.

It doesn't cost anything to get a quote.

It won't work for everyone. Association Health Programs works with lots of clients to establish a base for the group rates.
in general these group rates will be lower than a individual rates.

Two big issues for members are Pre-existing conditions and the state where you live. See John Hills letter.
Someone with pre-existing condition will most likely get a higher quote than they are paying and some states regulate rates for all.

I'm anxious to see how this plays out. I think it may help a good number of our members get a savings.
