Here's a brief photo gallery from the AAW's "Influence & Inspiration" exhibit, at the recently completed SOFA (Sculpture Objects & Functional Art) Annual Exposition in Chicago.

Thanks Ed. I sure would like to know who the artist is who did the bowl from the pages of the book. I've seen other work done where glued up pages were used but I don't remember who the artist is.

Turned paper artist

John-
The turned paper piece was by James Thurman of Texas, who is a metalsmith as well as a turner. His website is http://www.jamesthurman.com. The piece was turned from the pages of a 1964 world atlas, and is titled "Tectonic Plate 03-1222D".

I'll post more information on the show, but for the moment I can quickly identify the main photos on Ed's link. Left to right, top to bottom, they are:
1. booth shot 2. booth shot 3. booth shot 4. Joey Richardson/Frank Sudol/Binh Pho 5. Hans Weissflog, Jakob Weissflog; 6. Merryll Saylan; 7. Adrien Segal; 8. James Thurman; 9. Benoit Averly (foreground)/Richard Raffan; 10. booth shot; 11. Ray Allen/Curt Theobald; 12. Joey Richardson/Frank Sudol; 13.David Ellsworth/Jason Schneider; 14. booth shot.

Cheers,
Tib
