Two trophies I recently made from the same Matai as the Matai burl bowl in my previous post but not burl wood. Very old, hard and dense wood to work with.

The swamp Matai was probably buried in a swamp after the Taupo eruption, which was about 1800 years ago. The wood isn't the best to work because it is very brittle and smells like a swamp.
