Anyone have a good methodology for a clean removal of burl bark? I know there are methods of soaking, boiling or pressure washing, but I do not know any of the specifics for doing so. I have a number of pieces both dry and green that I want to keep the burl surface, but not the bark.
I've been turning some half rounds of Cedar that were cut 2 years ago - amazingly there are very few splits in the 16" high by 17" wide blocks.
While doing this, I discovered I could peel the bark off intact from the wood, and got to wondering if I can dry the sheets and do some carving or...

I have some small pieces of wood that I would like to turn. They are too small to cut into slabs or square stock. Is there an advantage to removing the bark to speed up drying? What is the best way or tool to remove the bark? Thanks.
