Weedcatcher

This piece is mahogany - 12" diameter by 8" tall. The weed is painted ixora root.
This is very cool. I like the mechanical look and think Weedcatcher is a perfect title for this. Very interesting.

Robert,
What a delightful piece! Do you have a high resolution image of this that you can (or want to) send to me for the journal? And a description, too?

This is a piece that sitting in someones living room they would keep looking at it. Marvelous idea. The roots really set it off. Great job.

Thank you! Would have rather filled it with a tumbleweed but they're a little hard to find in the everglades. Betty - I'll email you the info - thank you.

Thanks Marty. The shape is turned then grooved with a router while still on the lathe - I built a jig for this. The final shape and cutouts are carved with a dye grinder. The texture is dyed, stained, rasped and sanded with radial bristle disks. Final color is toned with shoe polish. Just guessing - well over 60 hours from start to finish.
