walnut vessel

This is my newest piece that was turned from a log of walnut. I really liked the thick sap wood so i tried to center it on the piece. It was turned carved, stippled and the sap wood was lightly sand blasted. 9.5" tall x 10" dia.
Dennis, this is quite an intriguing piece. Is it hollowed or solid? The carving and texturing are fantastic giving the appearance of a growth on the heartwood. Very imaginative.

Hal, it is a hollow vessel. It is pretty thick as I had planned to do deep carving, some of the carving is 3/4 of an inch deep. It is still a quite heavy piece. thanks for the comments.

Dennis-

Superb workman ship. Makes me want to pick it up and roll it around in my hands while looking at it.
