When you do these sculptures are they just one sided. Ie are they mounted on a faceplate and then holes filled or is there a way to turn both sides with some form of mounting?
@Glenn Lefley I did these one sided because I like the figure in the wood. I thought it would be cool to see the original blank grain on one side and a pattern on the other. But, it would be pretty easy to flip the board around and do both sides.
I used my cole chuck jaws to hold the piece. To be "safe" I used a flat quill on the tail stock to push against it. I turned at a pretty slow speed <200 rpm. The cole chuck held surprisingly well, even when I moved the tail stock.
