Walnut Bowl

I have been busy trying to clean up my shop, worked on it for a week before I noticed much difference. ☺ Had to take a break from that and finished this walnut bowl, it has a gray streak in the sapwood that I think adds to it’s appearance. It is 10 3/4” x 4 ¾” finished with Danish oil.

Wow James. Near perfect form. I love the rim treatment. It is similar to the style I was taught by Glenn Lucas. I have a large walnut blank ready to start it's journey to becoming a beautiful bowl like yours. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Jim . Great bowl. Love bk walnut and what you did with it. I still turn but less this year as all craft shows/sales are negligible. Let me know if you are interested in any wood. Got some small cherry burls, some misc burls, and some nice apple that I had cut down last fall. Turning some of that now, Gretch.

Thanks Keith! I use the “glue stick” method that I learned from Terry Scott to check the curve on bowls. That along with practice helps me with form. I have been to a Glenn Lucas demo at a symposium perhaps I remembered something.

Thanks Gretch! I am also just getting back to turning. In my case it is because of an extensive back surgery (12 hours) in August that has slowed me down. I am interested in your generous offer. It will be nice to get some wood but more importantly it will be nice to see you.
