vortex

Vortex, largely inspired by the forces of nature namely the Hurricane or Typhoon. This is only the second piece I have done like this, never exactly the same otherwise it would lessen the original. The other lives in Utah with a friend who is very fine turner, it was the result of a swap. I often think I got the better end of the deal, thanks Curt :) Blackwood or Acacia Melanoxylon half dozen coats of Danish Oil and buffed, 6x5" .
I really like how the carving transitions from coves to beads (for lack of a better terminology). Very clean work with great details. Nicely done, Hughie.
