Vase with a Shawl

A thin layer of natural edged Maple Burl (0.030" thick) has been fit to a Bubinga vase with a thin layer of black epoxy (0.006" thick) between. The three layers are cut through with an ornamental lathe. The top insert is ebony.

I like it very much. I think the ornamentation is just right. Not too much, not too little.
