Turning 25 split bowl detail

Here's a detail photo of the finial and its inside structure. You can just make out that there's something inside by looking through the the pierced openings. The little "silver" vessel at the bottom represents the 25 year anniversary.
This piece was chosen by the Chicago Woodturners for the Turning 25 exhibit at the AAW symposium. It's another in my split bowl series, maybe suggesting I have a split personality. Whatever, this shape has a lot of possiblities so I intend to continue with it.
It's a bit over the top, as this detail photo shows, but it was a lot of fun to make. From what I've seen of the other entrants, I'll be in extremely good company and am honored to be part of it.
