Truncated Icosahedron (Soccer Ball)
A 2.7" diameter 32 piece sphere made with 20 walnut hexagons, and 12 maple pentagons. Each piece was cut on table saw using a jig I designed. It was glued together all at once using long open time glue, stretch-wrap, and then a large rubber band as a clamp. After gluing, I turned it on my lathe between cup centers. Finally, a wax finish was applied while on the lathe.
Steve, I love this. you prompted me to add to my media a sphere I turned a few years ago out of pen blanks.

I'm going to have to try this. I'd be interested in what the jig was like.
