The movement in Arbutus Burl as it dries can be amazing. I wanted to capture the extreme movement so set up a time lapse camera for a 10 day period while this piece dried. This bowl was 17.5" dia X 9" high and after drying it measures 19" X 6" X 10" high. In the video this bowl appears to dance without moving its feet.
Dave,
A lovely bowl for sure, and thank you so much for the wonderful idea to shoot the time lapse. It's great that you set up as you did, since it shows so well the very different rates and extent of shrink and subsequent warp - so much so it appears that it's rotating as well. Just great!
