Beautiful form and finish. I get to work with a lot of Oregon Myrtle, and this is what it looks like when you work with a cut near the base of multiple branches. One of my favorites to turn. I could be wrong of course, but that’s my guess.
Thanks for your kind words Nick. I look forward to maybe turning some Oregon Myrtle some day. I live in Toronto so in my urban foraging for wood I wouldn't have come across that tree I don't think. It was more likely Gabriel's guess of a Maple Burl. My usual source is downed city trees, of which we have an abundance of various Maples.
