1207 Stress Relief is 2 d x 12 h, Myrtle Burl & Ebony Stem. Sanded to 1200, Danish Oil, Bealle Buffed.
Cut from a larger piece of Myrtle burl which has dried fully over several years in my shops wood pile, so no further seasoning required.
The fluted body is Myrtle Burl 2 d x 5 h. The Ebony stem is 6-3/4 long and turned down to 3/16 dia at its thinnest section. The 2 dia. base is made from the same section of Myrtle Burl as the fluted body.
During the hollowing process, blue painters tape was carefully wrapped around the fluted body to help reduce the opening effects caused by the centrifugal forces as the sides became free. The fluted body wall thickness is 1/8 near the lower section and flares out slightly to 1/16 or less near the top edges as I did not catch the CF effects soon enough. However, we live and learn..
Another lesson learned was to constantly remind myself to BREATH while hollowing.
Your comments, opinions and critiques are greatly appreciated. Of course my photography needs a lot of work.
Thanks, JL
