Something new for me.

Something new for me.

My turnings are usually rather utilitarian so this is rather a departure for me. Banksia Pod with Pecan finial and foot, as well as the band at the separation point. Also trying a poly catalytic lacquer. Builds nicely and harder than Delft. Comments and critique welcome.
a very impressive piece! I especially like the band at the separation point.
just a personal preference - but i wonder if the aesthetics would be improved even further by making the base more a mirror of the finial ie reducing the cone at the bottom to a more delicate stem and fairly flat foot. it may give the piece a more symmetrical balance but the trade off would be that it was more fragile?
very nice - well done!

Funny Jason that is just what my wife said. Thanks for your comments.
