Soldier - 41" Tall

Soldier - 41" Tall

This soldier is 41" tall. The hat and body are hollowed as 4 separate pieces and held together with epoxy.

I've wanted to make one since I began woodturning many years ago. This guy was inspired by Bob Neumann's 9-foot soldier on the Instructables.com site, which had detailed plans so I just scaled it down to this size. It was definitely a challenge, mainly because the hollowed pieces are from freshly cut pine trees - very wet, but made the shop smell great! Microwave drying and dealing with warping caused me to deviate from my plan - lots of tweaking based on drying outcomes.
