Small Pear Vace

I'm back! It's been a long cold winter for here and what little shop time I've had was in flatland. (Making furniture not the novel) I picked up a nice Pear blank at my last group meeting. I wanted to get back to this hollow from both ends technique and am making headway. Still not totally happy with the shape. I think the blank didn't net me as much height as I wanted and my smallest chuck wasn't small enough. Pear 3.5x9" finished with Bees Wax and a linseed oil.
Notice the ring around where the neck starts to narrow? I'm not sure what that is but is showed up after the hollowing when I was working on the neck. Looks like a stain but I'm clueless. Thoughts?

What do you find lacking in the form, Nino? Just curious. My spontaneous take is that it looks good, but you're the one whose opinion counts.

Could those rings be fiber compression from the heel of the gouge you used to turn into the bottom of the neck?

Dean, Thanks for the kind words!

On the rings, I don't know - but they were not there when I finished the outside. I noticed them while hollowing the inside from the bottom. Could it be from that backside scraping? The blank was mostly dry but still green in the middle.

I guess I have a vision that I just haven't hit yet. I'm still working on it. Smaller at the bottom, smother transition into the neck, shorter distance in that transition and a smaller neck. Not picky here 😂

I also thought that gouge heel bruise caused the rings. I don't believe that they would necessarily be immediately visible.

I like your vision of a smooth flowing form.
