This was the easiest vessel I've ever hollowed...mainly because I cut it into disks and cut each disk into a ring on a screw chuck with a thin parting tool.
" . . . I cut it into disks and cut each disk into a ring on a screw chuck with a thin parting tool."
Since the grain appears to match up pretty nicely, does this mean that the disks were wedge shaped? If you cut them into rings on a screw chuck, did you have problems with them trying to fly away when you cut through?
Yes, the rings were wedges, but they didnt fly off or anything. I just pulled out the parting tool really quick and shut the lathe off. The wood was green too, so maybe that helped. -Chet
