Sandblasted to produce a very tactile effect. Redwood is so soft, it responds nicely to sandblasting, maybe only 2 minutes of blasting to get this texture. 8 inches diameter by 2.25 inches high.
In terms of mass, Sequoia trees are the largest tree in the world. In terms of height, Redwoods are the largest trees in the world. The wood of the giant sequoia is much coarser in texture than that of the redwood, and the growth rings of the redwood are wider. Both woods are highly resistant to decay.
Details please re your blasting??? - if you’re not fearful of giving the rest of us a leg up…
Glass bead is entirely different than regular sand when blasting, eh?
Paul from Canada
I used regular sand (aluminum oxide). The redwood is so soft probably anything would work. I turned down the air pressure to control the process better. Always good to have some scrap pieces to work out the pressure for a given piece of wood.
