Mesquite. 6.25"d x 3"h. Turned, Carved and Pierced. Finishing oil finish.

My first piece at the new place, back in FL :)

C&C welcome. Thanks for having a look.
Hi Steve
I notice your turning appears to be about 3mm wall thickness? my I ask what tool you used for piercing? Good Job.
Wally

Hi Wally, Thank you!

I use a Dremel tool for piercing, in combination with some double cut carbide burrs. It all seems to work pretty efficiently and makes nice holes.

Great design Steve. Love the way you've used the heart and sap wood in your design. This just may be the first time I've seen mesquite pierced.

Thank you, Hal! Due to the contrast between heart and sap, mesquite is typically a hard wood to play with and does a lot of speaking for itself. I got lucky on this piece, that it all seems to flow pretty well together.
