Ringed Gidgee bowl

Ringed Gidgee bowl

Ringed Gidgee bowl; 6.25” wide by 3” tall. Reported to be the third densest wood in the world, and after turning it, I easily believe it! Beautiful wood though, and finishes really well.
The figure is just amazing!

Beautiful. Has a nice visual depth to it.

How did it cut? I remember the first time I turned purpleheart. When I finished, my entire shop was covered with a fine layer of purple powder. More like talcum powder than sawdust. And that was with a dust collection system running. Pretty much clogged the cloth collection bag.

@Matthew Ferriter it cut quite well, despite it being so dense, and took a finish really well. It did require more sharpening, but other than that it was really nice to turn.

And thank you for the compliment, it really is a remarkable piece of wood. The chatoyancy is amazing in person!
