Ribbed 2
Ribbed

Wood: Black Maire
Length: 170mm (6-5/8")
Finish: Danish Oil, Natural Beaut Polish

I posted a prototype to this piece some time back and thought it was about time I made a larger one. This one was the second attempt as the first was a complete failure. (designer firewood now) I think it was just luck that the prototype worked out.
I managed to keep the tips of the ribs intact by covering them in hot-melt glue.
I picked this piece of maire because it was half sap and half heart, I think it gives the piece more character.
Comments welcome
Robbie,
I really like this piece. Looks like it was done on 2 axes though it's kind of hard to tell from the current camera angle.

Thanks Bob and yes it was done on two axes. It gets people scratching their head to how it was done.
Cheers, Robbie
