This platter was inspired by my Mom and Grandma. Throughout her long life, my Grandma collected these rocks on her walks upon the Alsea River and along the coast of Oregon. When she passed away, she left the rocks to my Mom. My Mom asked me to make something that would showcase the rock collection. I decided that a large platter would be nice, allowing the rocks to be displayed and to showcase the grain of the wood. I decided to carve out a river within the grain to hold the rocks. The plater is 20" in diameter and the rocks are glued in with CA glue.
