Red Elm Hollow Form

Red Elm Hollow Form

Another cool piece of wood, courtesy of my friend John Kent!
Knowing that elm can move a bit, I had planned to just rough it out then give it a DNA soak, but as usual I turned the outside, then thought I would just drill out the center before stopping, then with the center drilled out I thought I would just take a little more from the inside and the next thing I knew it was going on 10pm and I was finishing the bottom.
Added a couple of beads on the top just for something a little different. I could have made the bottom a little smaller, but I'm still happy with it.
Its about 6" x 5", finished with antique oil and buffed.
You certainly got on a role with this piece Kathy, (bet your pleased you didn't stop) lovely full form & the neck treatment just finishes the whole thing off a treat :)

Kathy-

A beautiful piece of Elm that you transfigured into a beautiful hollow form. Something to very proud of.
