Pot de fer d'Eecke

Pot de fer d'Eecke

In addition to wood turning, among other passions I must admit a strong interest in the Great War, and thus I have dragged my gaiters on a lot of old battlefield.
To see how it is to breathe the place to compare the "then and now" , near Eecke precisely.
So foraging the side of the line of disused railway Hazebrouk-Poperinge, near the highway that runs from Lille to Dunkirk, I knew to be on the field who saw one of the last German offensive in April 1918. These fights are better known as the Battle of the Monts de Flandre.
So when my boot hit a rotundity unnatural that had the appearance of a warhead projectile ... so
it is with some trepidation that I made better acquainted.
I was lucky (j'ai eu du pot) was not a "marmite".
A little disappointed though, I think that probably this object has any connection with these events.
Who knows?

No report in any case with wood turning ...
Who knows?

PS: I must admit too...that I'm inspired (at least) by a post of Terry Scott with an iron pot
Was a good story. I did love this...thus... it's pear with iron and instant rust, just the half handle is iron
Comments welcome
Oh, yes, "potferdek" is a belgian-flemish swear-word. Something like : hell
great piece & story Lionel, I have handled some of Terry's "rusty" pieces you mentioned & yes they are very convincing indeed

Lionel, when I first viewed this, I would have sworn it was a rusty piece of cast iron. Nicely done!
