Pistachio 1

2.5 x 5 3/8 inches diameter. Hand rubbed gel poly finish
Neat wood. Is this "aged," or does it have that pattern from habit of growth? With the dark deposits, is it a pungent wood when turning?

As I recall, pistachios were not too large, or perhaps they were still too young when I last toured the valley at ground level. Is the habit with them to renew after twenty years or so like the other nut trees?
