I had a blast turning this. The main ball is Sycamore that I painted red and the top and bottom finial is walnut, the over all size is 11 inches long and 8 3/4 inches wide, the main ball is 2 3/4 inches. The small finials around the main ball are 3 inches long 3/8 inches wide at the widest point. There are 8 different types of wood that I use to make these, Cherry, Walnut, Purple Heart, Ash, White oak, Beech, Sweet Gum, popular. If I remember right, I think Iput on 5 caots of high gloss Wipe-on-Poly.
