Oak surprise

This was scavenged from a tree that was taken down in my neighborhood, some type of oak. This branch section had a nice burl looking section that I really couldn’t detect until I started working it. First piece I’ve had the courage to show here.
Thanks Tom, it’s just sanded to 800 and I applied Howard’s feed and wax followed by Hampshire Sheen wax.

Than Will. when I started turning this there was some obvious rot in the pith so I was pleasantly surprised at the result. It’s 6 1/2 inches by 10 inches at the widest point.
