Norweigian Wood

First and probably last attempt at turning pine species native to Illinois. This piece was given to me by a friend after it sat outside for a few years. It is believed to be Scott's pine? Because this wood lacks density and doesn't turn or burn well, I had originally thought of calling it "Not even good for firewood"

Approx 11"tall by 10" dia. airbrushed with dyes, sanded back, and airbrushed another color to create ribbons of color following the growth rings. The black marks other than around the knot showed up during the airbrushing, and were not visible prior to that. Finished with WOP. This piece was donated to an art auction by a non-for-profit organization that provides services to the developmentally disabled.

Comments and critiques are always welcomed!
I never saw it as an eye, but from this angle is certainly does look like an eye. It was named for the Beatle's song which was in reference to cheap pine used to decorate apartments in europe at the time. It was used for this purpose because it wasn't good for anything else. Thanks for your comments!
